Just after finishing my degree at Edinburgh College of Art in '98, I entered the National gallery of Scotland on the Mound and I took solace in old Renaissance painting. seeing the accomplishment attained and what these masters could do with paint.. I realised I was deprived of certain kind of visual stimulus at art college in exchange for an overly theoretical approach. After leaving college I suppose I needed the complete opposite. Though after a while, and one Renaissance painting too many in the long corridors of oversized national collections of pillage taken from other nations' pillage. I again needed the opposite: less visual stimulus and a more theoretical approach.
